Nestling right in the heart of the painters’ town, Le Mas des Citronniers is a genuine boutique hotel, the perfect place to come for romantic weekends. It stands just a stone’s throw from the historic town centre, so you can easily wander off for a stroll through the shady alleyways. There are lively terraces and colourful shops, all helping to create the typical ambiance of the Mediterranean south. After a stroll along the waterfront, why not give in to temptation and enjoy some seafood with a view of the bell tower? Then there are plenty of other fun things you can be doing while you’re waiting for the nightlife to get going.
You simply must enjoy some fine dining when you’re on a romantic weekend. Check out the menu at the L’Almandin restaurant in Saint-Cyprien (one Michelin star since 2018). The chef, Frédéric Bacquié, has his own fresh take on French and Mediterranean culinary tradition with a subtle approach to cooking methods and combinations. You can even ask for private use of the swimming pool terrace if you’d like to spend an amazing romantic evening under the stars.
Variety is the spice of life so while you’re here for a holiday or a romantic weekend, why not try some of the many different ways of enjoying your time together? For instance, have a go at scuba diving, go walking and check out some truly breathtaking views, or go cycling or horse-riding. There’s a huge range of different activities available in Collioure and the surrounding area. There’s no shortage of places to go when it comes to heritage and culture either - painting workshops in the town, the permanent exhibition at the Château Royal, etc.
It’s a good idea to give yourself a few breaks throughout the year, so we believe in getting away for two or three days every now and again. A romantic weekend is an opportunity to make some time for us, so we usually look for boutique hotels. When we were in Collioure, the Le Mas des Citronniers hotel welcomed us with open arms and we absolutely loved both the feel of the place and its amazing location in the heart of the town, which meant we could make the very most of everything the painters’ town has to offer! We’ll be back to explore Collioure some more in a few months’ time, at a different time of year. So I think we'll be back for another amazing romantic weekend in Languedoc Roussillon.
